Aleady one of
the country’s leading young voiceover artists, with more credits to his name
than any other voice his age, Dominic began working as a comedian in 1997 and
went on to win many of the new act competitions. Now a regular at many of the
major UK clubs, he regarded as one of the freshest and most original new
comedians on the circuit, with a multitude of silly characters such as it-guy
SIMON LA FONTAINE, farm hand MORRIS THE MORRIS DANCER, aristocrat twit, THE
UPPER-CLASS RAPPER, and daft German, LUDWIG THE BAVARIAN. He also performs
straight stand-up as himself.
In 2002, as well as working the comedy comedy circuit
and recording voice after voice, he played the leading role of
Captain
Rimming in the new Channel 4 Comedy Lab sitcom, PAM ANNE’S MILE
HIGH CLUB; he has made a pilot with Tiger Aspect for the BBC of
a new hidden camera show, CROUCHING CAMERA, HIDDEN PRODUCER; and
he has shot three commercials – for Smirnoff, the Sunday
Telegraph and Esure. (His Smirnoff ‘Contact Lenses’ ad can
currently be seen in cinemas across the UK). He has also just
finished filming the new BBC1 prank show SPY TV with Ian Wright
for Endemol.
As a writer, he began working for THE FACTORY, the
Jongleurs/Carlton TV comedy development initiative, and also
penned the opening monologues for the latest series of
CATCHPHRASE. He is currently working on three TV ideas in
development, a new Radio 4 Comedy and on his Edinburgh 2003
Show.
His first full-length show was a massive hit at the
Edinburgh Festival 2000, earning much critical acclaim and never
taking less
than four stars, and in 2001, after sell-out shows at the
Brighton and Singapore Festivals, Dominic returned to Edinburgh,
this
time with his one-man sketch show, AAAAAAH DOMINIC FRISBY. He
has made countless appearances on Radio 4’s LOOSE ENDS include a
hugely successful residency in the spring and summer last year,
when he made his election broadcasts
- with TONY’S CRONY and THE VICTORY SPEECH BY THE APATHY PARTY
earning special acclaim.
As an actor numerous TV and film appearances include
EASTENDERS, THE KNOCK, IN LOVE AND WAR with Sandra Bullock and
Chris O’Donnell, directed by Richard Attenborough; and stage
appearances include Romeo in ROMEO AND JULIET, Clarence in
RICHARD III and a highly successful Lord Fancourt Babberley in
CHARLEY’S AUNT. In 2001 he guest starred in the Davina McCall
sit-com SAM’S GAME, playing her undumpably perfect boyfriend,
Colin.
As for the voiceovers, his range is almost limitless.
As well as an ear for accents, he has a terrific feel for
language, which enables him to instantly master the right tone
and style of read. He can deal with virtually any text, from
Chaucer and Shakespeare to modern corporate jargon, from
straight narrative to street slang. He has a phenomenal range of
professional broadcast experience: as a sports commentator; as
the voice of multi-award-winning documentaries and commercials;
in cartoons, promos, corporates, dubbing and lip-synching,
magazine programmes and even as a BBC Announcer.
He lives in Wandsworth with his wife and two kids.
