Gary Delaney

Performing: December 23rd

Gary is probably the most deadpan act currently on the circuit. He does one-liners, lots of them, mostly puns. Most of them you have to think for a moment to get, a few are a bit hammier.

Gary was part of Avalon's Comedy Zone at the 2002 Edinburgh festival and is now getting paid work at comedy clubs all round the country. He supported Rob Deering on the Comedy Network and recently supported Jerry Sadowitz on tour, culminating in a gig at Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Clubs that have given him 20 minute spots include Banana Cabaret, the Stand, East Dulwich Tavern, Kill for a Seat, Downstairs at the King's Head, Lee Hurst's Backyard Comedy Club, Clockwork Comedy, Amused Moose, Chuckle Club and the Buzz. He has also done shorter paid spots at clubs including Jongleurs, Red Rose, Komedia, Hampstead, Soho Ho and the Comedy Café.

Gary won King Gong at the Comedy Store (London) in February 2002, and was a finalist in their 'King of King' competition this March. He also won the finals of the North East New Comic Of the Year 2002 last January, and was a finalist in 2002's Daily Telegraph and BBC competitions,

Gary is one of the five-strong writing team for the bi-weekly comedy website Jinx (http://www.jinx.co.uk),writing mainly topical one-liners and picture gags/spoof small ads, plus the occasional longer article.

I don't have a car but am an expert at bumming rides and know what trains are.
