Ian Hunter is
a relatively new act on the scene having moved over from Belfast to London
towards the end of 2002.
He had previously flirted with stand-up comedy a couple of years before and
those flirtations were quite successful: He was a semi-finalist in the Daily
Telegeraph Open Mic Awards, reached the finals of the Irish New Comedy Awards
and was a winner at the "Gagging for Bass" competition in Belfast's Cathedral
Quarter Festival.
He was then forced to spend some time in the comedy wilderness as he
concentrated on passing the exams required to make him a surgeon.
Since moving to London, the early indications have been good. He has come back
with fresh material that covers topics from his awkwardness in sexual
relationships to how to milk a polar bear.
He delivers his set with the composed assuredness of a man who needs to have a
steady hand whilst removing your spleen.
