From a background in acting, improvisation, sketch
comedy and magic, Spencer Brown emerged on the comedy scene as
the star or The Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000.
Since then, Spencer has headlined the Comedy Network
at universities nationwide. He was selected in 2001 to tour
with Chris Addison and Andy Zaltzman on the WKD Best of the
Network Tour.
As a writer, Spencer has contributed to numerous TV
shows including Channel Four's Smack the Pony and BBC2's
Comedy Nation.
In August 2001 Spencer returned to Edinburgh with his
first solo show, The World of Spencer Brown which sold-out and
received much critical acclaim for its originality, energy and
avant-garde humour. The show also earned Spencer a spot on BBC
2's Edinburgh Comedy.
This year Spencer took a second show, The Fall of the
House of Spencer Brown to the Edinburgh Festival. Time Out
said "The show is spilling over with ideas .. .there is
considerable raw talent here:" Spencer will be appearing this
autumn on Brain Candy, the new stand-up show on BBC Choice.
Spencer also starred in Polar Bears. the new play by
Jim Kenworth at the Soho Theatre in October this year.
